Description

          This employee is responsible for organizing and implementing an ongoing instructional program to meet the needs of students who are unable to attend school for medical reasons.

 

Certification:

Special Education Certification Required with other GE Content preferred

 

Duties of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Design a student education program so that it is consistent with the total educational philosophy and goals of the district
  • Facilitate a seamless transition between home and school services
  • Prepare, implement, and evaluate an educational plan for each student based on individually assessed needs in accordance with district procedures
  • Use appropriate assessment instruments pertinent to areas of instruction
  • Prepare lesson plans for each student
  • Provide specialized instructional techniques through individual sessions designed to meet the educational needs of each student
  • Coordinate with general education or special education teachers in order to implement recommended services and curriculum
  • Provide parents with home strategies as appropriate for the student
  • Communicate effectively with campus staff regarding student performance/progress
  • Collaborate with related services staff to implement integrated IEPs as appropriate for each student
  • Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents
  • Consistently assess student achievement through formal and/or informal testing
  • Coordinate report card grades with classroom teachers
  • Complete reports for appropriate local and state educational agencies
  • Submit student attendance and weekly hours of homebound services
