Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Valid Texas Class driver’s license.
• Ability to operate necessary equipment for athletic field maintenance. (EX: tractors, front end loaders, sod cutter, dump trucks, backhoe, box blade, field paint machine, reel mowers, zero turn mowers, line trimmer, etc…)
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions department leadership.
• Ability to speak, read and understand English.
• Must be able to organize and prioritize work.
• Must be able to work well with all employees on issues and concerns regarding the tasks.
• Must be able to promote safety on the job and the well-being of the employees and equipment.
• Applicator license preferred.
• Experience working on athletic fields, preferred.
• Irrigator license a plus.

Essential Functions

• Coordinate the direction, scheduling, and work of Field Maintenance Crew.
• Survey district athletic fields for all needed maintenance or repairs.
• Communicate with Maintenance Director/Forman of athletic facility’s needs.
• Initiate orders for all supplies, materials, services and equipment necessary for scheduled field work.
• Constant communication with Maintenance Director/Forman on status of athletic fields.
• Work in coordination with in-house and contracted applicators for the scheduling of pesticide, herbicide, or fertilizer applications.
• Monitor and repair irrigation system status for all fields.
• General maintenance on equipment used on fields, including but not limited to; tractor, reel mower, aerator, broadcast spreader and box blade.
• Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.
• Willing to obtain pesticide applicator and irrigation technician license.

Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and heavy lifting and carrying. Work outside and around moving objects or vehicles. Exposure to extreme temperatures, chemical (herbicides and fertilizer), and loud noises.
